Your VA benefits may cover home care
If you or your spouse need help with everyday activities — bathing, dressing, eating, mobility, memory care or recovery — VA benefits may help pay for care at home. Many Veterans qualify for more than one program, and we’re glad to help you sort out which ones fit.
Not sure where you stand? You don’t have to figure it out alone — we’ll help you understand benefits like Aid & Attendance and handle the paperwork so the care you’ve earned is easier to reach.
Four VA programs that may help pay for care
Whether it’s a few hours a day or around-the-clock care, VA benefit programs can offset the cost of in-home support. Here are the four most commonly used.
- Homemaker & Home Health Aide — for Veterans who need a hand with daily activities. Care comes through agencies in the VA Community Care Network — and as a participating provider, we can step in. Pairs with the Aid & Attendance pension
- Aid & Attendance Pension — a monthly benefit added to a Veteran’s basic pension for those — or surviving spouses — who need help with bathing, dressing, eating, memory care or recovery. It can go straight toward home care
- Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) — support for the family member caring for an eligible Veteran full-time, including a monthly stipend, training, and at least 30 days of respite each year so caregivers can rest and recharge
- Veteran-Directed Care (VDC) — for Veterans who want to stay in charge of their own care. This program lets you direct your plan and choose the caregivers who help you keep living at home, with eligibility based on your care needs
Ways we proudly serve Veterans
Whether it’s a few hours a day or around-the-clock care, you can count on SYNERGY HomeCare. A few of the many ways we help:
- Companion care — a familiar face, good conversation, and a steady presence that pushes back against isolation
- Personal care — respectful help with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and other activities of daily living
- Recovery support — a safe transition home and attentive care after illness, a stroke or surgery — so healing comes first
- Memory care — patient, specially trained support for Veterans living with dementia or memory loss, and peace of mind for family
- Errands & transportation — light housekeeping, grocery runs, and rides to VA and medical appointments so the day keeps moving
- Respite for family — trusted relief for the spouse or family member who carries the load — time to step away and breathe
Veteran home care, answered
Questions about VA benefits or getting started? Call us any time — a real person will help you think it through.
What are Veteran home care services?
It's the same wholehearted, in-home care we provide every client — with an added commitment to the specific needs of Veterans and their families, and to helping you make the most of the benefits you've earned.
Will VA benefits cover the cost of in-home care?
In many cases, yes. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers programs — such as the Homemaker/Home Health Aide benefit and the Aid & Attendance pension — that can help pay for help with daily living at home. We'll walk you through which programs may apply to your situation.
How do I apply my VA benefits to get home care?
It usually starts with a conversation with your VA care coordinator or local VA office to confirm eligibility. Once you're approved, you can choose a provider — and because we participate in the VA Community Care Network in our areas, we can help with the paperwork and build a care schedule. If it feels overwhelming, you don't have to do it alone; we're here at every step.
Do you serve Veterans in both of your service areas?
Yes. Our East King County office (Issaquah) and our North Seattle, Shoreline & Everett office (Lynnwood) both proudly care for Veterans and their families across our communities.
