Choosing care for someone you love is deeply personal, and no question is too small. Take your time with the answers below — and whenever you're ready, a local care coordinator serving East King County and North Seattle, Shoreline & Everett can talk through your home care questions, free of charge.
Who is SYNERGY HomeCare?
We're a local in-home care team — part of a national SYNERGY HomeCare network founded in 1999 — serving families across East King County (Issaquah, Sammamish, Renton and surrounding communities) and North Seattle, Shoreline, and Everett. Our caregivers provide non-medical support that helps people of all ages and abilities live fully in the home they love.
How soon can care begin?
Often within a day or two. We start with a free in-home consultation to understand exactly what you need, then match you with the right caregiver and get a personalized plan in place. When a situation is urgent, we move as quickly as possible — because we know waiting is hard.
Is the in-home consultation really free?
Yes, completely. We come to you — no obligation, no pressure, and no commitment required. It's simply a conversation so we can understand your loved one's needs and give you a clear picture of your options. Ask us anything.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
Not at all. Our service agreements are flexible by design — care adapts as your needs change. Whether you need help for a week or ongoing support for years, there are no lock-in contracts and no penalties for adjusting your plan along the way.
Do you provide care outside the home — in hospitals or assisted living?
Yes. We support people wherever they call home — including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living communities. We also specialize in Hospital-to-Home transitional care, helping families navigate the journey from discharge to a safe, comfortable recovery at home.
Is care available for short-term needs, or only long-term situations?
Both. Care plans are shaped by your needs, not a fixed timeframe. Whether you need a caregiver for a few days after surgery, regular help a few hours a week, or full-time live-in support, we build a plan around your life — and adjust it as things change.
How will you find the right caregiver for my loved one?
Carefully. Every SYNERGY caregiver is thoroughly background-checked, bonded, insured, and trained for the care they provide. We match each person based on your personalized plan, schedule, caregiver skills and personality — and if the fit ever isn't right, we'll adjust until it is.
Can I meet the caregiver before care begins?
Absolutely. If you'd like to meet a caregiver in advance, we'll arrange it. Getting comfortable with the person coming into your home matters to us just as much as it matters to you.
How will I stay informed once care is underway?
We believe good communication is part of the care. Family members are essential partners — our caregivers provide real-time feedback through our client management system, and we proactively share updates, observations, and any concerns with you as often as you'd like.
How do I pay for home care, and does insurance help?
Most families pay privately, and we accept all major credit cards as well as electronic funds transfer. Home care may also be covered in full or in part by long-term care insurance, certain Medicare Advantage plans, or other programs. We'll help you understand what questions to ask your insurance carrier and walk you through what might apply to your situation.
Will Medicare or Medicaid cover home care?
Some Medicare Advantage plans do cover non-medical in-home care, depending on the specific plan. Medicaid eligibility and coverage for home care services vary by state. Give us a call — we're happy to help you sort through what might be available to you.
Do you provide care for Veterans, and will VA benefits cover it?
We're proud to care for those who have served. We work with eligible Veterans and their families throughout East King County and the North Seattle area, and we can help you understand and access the VA benefits that may cover in-home care. Contact us to get started.
Are there any hidden fees I should know about?
No. Our service agreement is clear and transparent — no hidden fees. The one additional cost you may occasionally see is mileage when your caregiver runs errands in their own vehicle. Everything else is straightforward.
What if I need help outside regular business hours?
We're here whenever you need us. Our local team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year — so if something comes up at 2 a.m. or over the holidays, a real person will pick up the phone.
Why choose a SYNERGY caregiver over hiring someone privately?
When you hire privately, you become the employer — responsible for payroll taxes, workers' compensation, background checks, coverage gaps, and more. With SYNERGY HomeCare, we handle all of that. Our caregivers are vetted, trained, insured, and backed by our local team, so you get consistent, reliable care without the administrative burden.
What if my loved one needs to relocate while receiving care?
We can usually move with them. SYNERGY HomeCare has more than 450 locations across the country, so whether a loved one is moving across town or across state lines, we'll work to ensure continuity of care and a warm handoff to a local team wherever they land.
